Grace vs Condemnation

Have you ever noticed that generally speaking people fall into one of two categories with respect to what they expect when they break the rules?  While this is most definitely arguable, it seems to me that there are those who expect grace and those who expect condemnation.  Those who expect condemnation secretly hope for grace but do not expect it.  And if they are granted grace, they may be hesitant to accept it.  Those who expect grace are often very angry when they don’t receive it and lash out in varous ways.  If they receive grace, while they seem grateful, many of them may actually be merely celebrating the fact that they have been given what they feel they deserve.  I think this has something to do with entitlement.

I am not sure what all this means and I’m really not sure where this thought has come from but there it is.  All messy and confused poured out from my brain to the “page” as it were.

You might want to check Jan’s post today at Church for Starving Artists. She links to an Alban article that touches on some similar themes. Good stuff.
